I believe that we are one of the most dynamic communities in Texas, the South, and the U.S. Our community is a diverse collection of individuals who, at times, certainly have their differences on any number of topics. Respectfully understanding and accounting for those differences is a necessary part of moving forward over time as a community. I start with myself and see that I can do better when it comes to respectfully understanding and working through differences within our community. It is my hope that we will all look at ourselves and recognize that need for improvement as well.

We do not need to let the tense challenges and ugliness of national politics find a surrogate in our local issues.   We have real work to do within our community. We will not all agree on the decisions ahead. But so long as we approach our differences respectfully we will find a way forward for the betterment of our community.

Get out of your homes. Meet your neighbors. Engage in dialogue and actions that improve our community one corner at a time. Love your children and remember that you are the best example of decency that they will ever have. Find the way forward every day and take care of each other. I love this community and it is a great honor to serve you.

With gratitude, love, and respect,
