IT HAS BEEN A BUSY FIRST WEEK – MOSTLY READING
Other than doing a lot of reading and research to prepare for the first council work session I:
- Attended an orientation with City staff,
- Met with citizens of the Hillside Edition Neighbors and Owners group (Bernard/Peak/Eagle area) regarding a controversial proposed plan for a DME substation which – if realized – would displace a number of citizen homeowners and renters from their homes,
- And toured the facilities and met with leadership of one of district 2’s larger employers (with over 200 employees… and hiring!) United Copper.
THE WEEK AHEAD
On Tuesday morning I will be receiving a “catch Keely up” briefing from staff on Denton’s current and next steps regarding drilling ordinances and hydraulic fracturing within the city in the wake of Governor Abbott’s signing of HB40. The city has received notice that (press release) Vantage Energy will resume hydraulic fracturing activity within the city on Monday, June 1.
